Chelsea are still looking for a new sporting director.
The London club were close to agreeing a deal with Christoph Freund, but in the end it fell through.
Red Bull Salzburg officially announced this Tuesday that Freund has decided to stay at the club, thus rejecting Chelsea.
Now, according to The Guardian, Tim Steidten is the next target for the Blues.
The leaders of the club from “Stamford Bridge” are said to want to start negotiations with the German as soon as possible.
The 43-year-old is the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen since the summer of this year.
He joined the German club in 2019, but was initially engaged in team planning, in the role of a scout.
Tim Steidten worked with Chelsea this summer after closing a deal to loan Callum Huddson-Odoi to Leverkusen.
