President Joan Laporta has revealed that Barcelona will build a statue of Lionel Messi in the courtyard of the “Camp Nou” stadium.
This will be a tribute from the Catalan giants to the Argentine legend, who gave everything and won everything with the Spanish club.
Messi left Barca last year after nearly 20 years after his contract expired and was not renewed due to the “Blaugrana’s” debts.
However, even though he left the club of his heart with tears in his eyes, the 35-year-old could return to Camp Nou next summer, after two years at Paris Saint-Germain, when his contract with the French giant.
Now, Barca is thinking of immortalizing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“We will build a statue of Leo Messi outside the Camp Nou stadium. The decision has been taken”, said Laporta.
The South American footballer has the option of staying at PSG and continuing a luxurious contract, but also transferring to the United States of America.
However, a return to the Camp Nou seems more likely as everyone wants it.
