Lionel Messi is expected to return to action at the weekend.
The Argentine suffered a muscle pull and missed Saturday’s match, in which Paris Saint-Germain drew with Reims (0:0).
The coach of the French champions, Christophe Galtier, has spoken about Messi’s injury, as he confirmed that he will not play in midweek, against Benfica, in the Champions League.
“Leo felt a problem with his leg during the first match against Benfica. We all thought he would be able to play in the second game, but that’s not really the case. Only six days have passed since that match,” he said.
“He is much better, but he still feels the discomfort that could be problematic in a game of this importance and he chose to wait it out. We will see how things develop during the week and it is very likely that he will be ready for the match against Marseille,” Galtier added.
PSG will play Benfica on October 11, while on October 16 they play against Marseille.
