Manchester City are reportedly planning to offer Bernardo Silva a lucrative new contract in an attempt to “armor” the player for a few more seasons.
The Portuguese was on the verge of leaving the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window, but he continues to be a part of the Citizens.
Barcelona tried to transfer him, but the Catalan club could not secure the necessary funds for his purchase.
Silva has three more years to run on his contract with Man City. He continues to be one of the main footballers in Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Portuguese international is still thought to want to leave the English champions for personal reasons, but the club are hoping to convince him to sign a new long-term contract.
According to “Football Insider”, Manchester City is preparing to offer the 28-year-old a contract where it is foreseen that he will earn even more financially.
The former Benfica and Monaco player is said to currently earn around £150,000-a-week, but the Manchester club are willing to offer him a rise in a bid to convince him to stay longer.
Bernardo Silva’s current contract expires on June 30, 2025.
