Karim Benzema has become the second oldest player in history to win the Ballon d’Or.

At 34 years and 10 months, the French striker won the prestigious individual trophy last night after an incredible season.

The Real Madrid footballer sees himself behind the unattainable, Stanley Matthews, who in 1956 received this award at the age of 41 years and 10 months.

Third place goes to Lionel Messi, who won the award controversially last year at 34 years and 5 months.
