Matthijs de Ligt has said that he has taken a step forward after transferring to Bayern Munich.
The Dutch defender was transferred from Juventus to the German champions in the summer transfer window, for 67 million euros.
He has recently shown why he chose to move to “Allianz Arena”.
“I really enjoyed my time at Juventus, but I felt it was time for a new challenge,” he told NOAS.
“Juve is a great team, but coming here was another step for me because Bayern have ambitions to win the Champions League. I didn’t understand this at Juventus”, added the former Ajax defender.
Juventus are struggling in Europe, but have also started this season with a poor run in Serie A, playing with a balance of two wins, four draws and one defeat.
Coach Max Allegri has been criticized for his style and the 23-year-old hinted that this also influenced his decision to leave Turin.
“Bayern Munich is closer in philosophy to what the Dutch team wants on the pitch. I am very satisfied with the way the first two months have gone”, declared Matthijs de Ligt.
