Thierry Henry is not a fan of VAR, at least not in its current state and at its current rate.
The retired striker believes it takes too long to make a decision, spoiling the goal celebrations.
“In football we are still behind, we have a lot to learn,” he said, speaking at the Leaders Week Sport Business conference in London.
“What I can see in American football, rugby, cricket or whatever, tennis, it’s immediate. With VAR, what I’m annoyed with is that it’s not fast enough. Another thing that is very difficult for me is that I used to score goals as a player. Sometimes I don’t know now if you are celebrating or not. This kills the joy of the game”, said the legend of Arsenal and Barcelona.
