In the 78th minute, Garcia was punished with a red card, while Benzema failed to score from the penalty spot, hitting the post.
Two minutes later, Benzema scored, but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside.
With this draw, Real Madrid now has 19 points in second place, as much as Barcelona has in first place.
