It is reported that Xavi “really likes” Marco Asensio and has instructed his club to sign him.
The Spain international has made seven appearances for Real Madrid this season but has scored just once and played just 34 minutes – proving he is not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
Asensio’s contract will expire at the end of June and he is expected to leave the Spanish and European champions as a free agent.
A number of clubs, including AC Milan, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, have been linked with the Spaniard.
However, there have also been reports that Barcelona are interested in the 26-year-old.
According to “Mundo Deportivo”, Xavi is a big admirer of the former Mallorca footballer and wants him to be part of his team for the 2023/24 season.
Asensio moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in July 2015, and he has represented Real Madrid in 242 matches in all competitions, contributing 50 goals and 24 assists.
